         Mount Sophia Academy is a diploma program for home educated high school students, registered with the states of Delaware and Maryland.  Mount Sophia Academy was incorporated in 1996 and has seen 10 graduating classes.

         Mount Sophia students are active and involved in their communities.  They serve in their churches and community organizations.  Our students have included National Merit Finalists, top University scholarship recipients, MBNA scholars, National Competition Yo-yo medalists, All-State Choir and Band members, national writing and songwriting competition winners, an electronic band signed to a national independent label, teens involved in missionary work - long and short term, and competitors in drama, speech, art, music, and writing.

         The program consists of two tracks - college or career-bound.  Of our past classes, 78% of our graduates have gone on to two- or four-year colleges or universities.  The remainder have entered missions training, gainful employment, or home-making.

        Mount Sophia Academy exists to maximize each student's unique potential.  We are founded on Biblical principles and we recognize that the school is part of our mission field, but we embrace people from every religious faith.  We pray for our families regularly, as well as praying that our students will be equipped in academics, developed spiritually, hold strong characters, and skilled socially in a manner that they are able to impact their culture for Christ.

        We aim to have our students maximally prepared for life - work or college.  In equipping our students academically, we recognize that all of life is education and we aim to capture it on a well-rounded transcript.  To do this we help the parents develop a customized learning experience for their student, with a minimum amount of paperwork.  We recognize that preparedness for life entails more than academic excellence, therefore we also encourage excellence in each of the following areas: integrity of character, spiritual maturity, and an ability to handle a variety of social situations.
